SFCB Presents Roadworks Street Fair – Potrero Hill

September 6th, 2010

You are invited to the 7th Annual Roadworks Steamroller Prints Street Fair! Using a three-ton construction steamroller and an unlikely letterpress bed—the street—a team of artists and printers will print large-scale linoleum carved block prints. In addition to the steamroller printmaking centerpiece, there will be 80+ artists, vendors, and organizations presenting a bazaar of fine and affordable wares.

Roadworks Street Fair takes …place on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 12-5pm. The fair takes over Rhode Island Street between 16th and 17th Streets, and is FREE, with donations accepted at the gate.

The three featured steamroller artists are Gary Brewer, Sarah Newton, and Rik Olson. Their three-foot by three-foot large-scale linoleum carvings will be printed by the steamroller in limited editions and will be available for purchase.

In addition to the three featured artists, eighteen artists, including Michael Wertz, John Hersey, Megan Adie, Jenny Robinson, Ward Stuhmiller, and Gail Wight, have been selected to design and carve one-foot square pieces of linoleum under the theme of “Loteria,” to coincide with our current Austin / Burch Gallery exhibition, “LA Loteria: An Exploration of Identity.” These prints will be available for sale at a forthcoming event in November. The final component of the steamroller printing is the “Little Lino” project, in which interested persons purchase one foot square pieces of linoleum, design and carve them, and have them printed by the steamroller at Roadworks.

Ongoing activities throughout the day include steamroller printing, “little lino” printing, children’s art corner, tours of the SFCB Austin/Burch Gallery and studios, free letterpress mini-workshop at the Center located at 300 De Haro near the corner of Rhode Island, live music, entertainment on stage, and food vendors

OktoberFest 2010 seeks Arts & Crafts Vendors – Concord – Oct 16th

September 5th, 2010

Sponsored by the Todos Santos Business Association and the City of Concord, OktoberFest 2010 is a one-day festival scheduled for Saturday, October 16th, 2010 at Todos Santos Plaza in downtown Concord, CA from 11:00am to 6:00pm. Festivities include live music, a beer garden, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors and a family area with themed games.

Last year’s event was very successful and heavily attended; we expect this year to be all the more so. Todos Santos Plaza is the local hub for live music and festival events. The City of Concord’s “Music and Market Concert Series” and “Music at Noon Concert Series”—collectively in their 23rd year—run twice per week through the summer months and draw on average of 4000 people each week. (OktoberFest 2010 will be marketed at each of these events, all season long.) In addition to on-site marketing at other Todos Santos Plaza events, we will be advertising extensively on the radio, television, newspapers, and though fliers, all to make your OktoberFest experience more enjoyable and profitable.

We are currently seeking arts and crafts vendors. Exhibitor spaces are limited. We seek a good mix of quality items. We select vendors by committee based on originality, creativity, marketability and general appeal as well as quality of craft and booth design. There is a strong preference for hand-made items and original designs. We avoid selecting multiple vendors selling similar or competing items.

FEES: $85.00 per 10’ x10’ space (no percentage of sales taken). Tent not included; Electricity is not available.

If you are interested, download an application at www.communityconcerts.com. Click on “Download Vendor Application” from the right-side panel on the home page or reply to this ad and I will email you an application.
