Mint Plaza Street Fair – September 19, 2009, 11:00-5:00

August 21st, 2009

Mint Plaza Street Fair with Jill Helffenstein of Friends of Mint Plaza (FMP) is to be held on Saturday,  September 19, 2009.  We are booking designers for this event which will be from 11:00am -5:00pm; it will be all ages, and no one has to pay to attend (so, it’s free to the public). We are planning to have two stages — one with bands and the other one with DJ’s. There are also 2 restaurants (Chez Papa Resto and 54 Mint) that will be serving brunch on their outside patio areas; there will also be a Taco Truck and flower cart (Lilybelle) parked on-site, and potentially an additional bar/cocktail space. Blue Bottle Café is located right on the corner of the Plaza and will be bustling as usual.

We are seeking local designers only. Spots will be 8 feet by 10 feet, and designers have to provide their own tables, chairs, etc. Unfortunately because the Plaza is a public space and managed by this non-profit, there are permit fees (required by the City) and production fees required to produce this event, so FMP will need to charge designers $150 per spot; all fee revenue will be used exclusively to fund the permit costs and production of the event.

Mint Plaza is located in the SOMA/down town neighborhood (off of 5th Street between Mission and Market); the Plaza itself is framed on three sides by historic architecture and lined with cafés and restaurants. It’s a beautiful neighborhood spot with a really cool vibe. I do think this fair on Mint Plaza will be an amazing opportunity. And again, since it is a public space, it’s open for all to attend. There will be great music and beautiful restaurants around; it’s also very close to all public transportation.

If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible so we can get the ball rolling.
