Make Pie Not War, jewels for the radical lady

April 24th, 2011

Make Pie Not War is a handmade jewelry company by Alana Little! We like to make “Jewels for the radical lady”, but we have pieces for men too! Alana started MPNW in 2007 after leaving the corporate world! MPNW loves to bring a whimsical and fabulous style to all who wear it! We love vintage pieces, gemstones, and precious metals to make our pieces! Our website is www.makepie.net and our etsy shop is www.makepienotwar.etsy.com.

What inspired you to go into the craft business, do you still have a day job? Alana graduated with an Accounting and Fashion degree, went to work in the corporate world, and then decided she had enough! She started MPNW and has been happy ever since! She does this full time while fitting in her time with her new babe!

Describe your creative process when designing/making your product line. Alana states, “I normally start with a piece that really inspires me, that I just have to use! From there, I figure out how I’m going to make this thing work!” MPNW is always on the look for fresh and new things to use. We always have our eyes open!

What’s the best thing about what you do? And the worst? Best: Working for ourselves and having happy customers! We love hearing from people who we have made feel beautiful! Worst: Long hours!

We do promos all the time! Join our facebook page, www.facebook.com/makepie and keep up with us! But for our San Francisco Bazaar fans, use “BBFREESHIP” during check out for FREE shipping at www.makepienotwar.etsy.com! We look forward to seeing you all!

A Fair to Remember – MAY 22ND AND JUNE 19th‏ – North Beach

April 20th, 2011

Thanks everyone who participated and/or came out to A Fair to Remember.  We received a ton of positive feedback!  We posted some new pictures of the space and some of the details on our website www.afairtoremembersf.com and on our facebook page.  We will be adding a short video and more pictures all month long.   We had a really good turn out and more people will come the more word gets out!

We have already begun to sign up vendors for the May 22nd event.  It is about a quarter full.  We encourage you to sign up early to reserve your spot.  If you are interested, please send us and email telling us what you sell and the price range.  It would also be helpful if you sent pictures and a website.  (We put our vendors up on our website with a link to their page).  We will then send you an invoice, which once paid will guarantee you a spot!  The booths are $60 and non-refundable (unless we have to cancel for rain).  Sorry, most of the money goes to promoting, music, and labor for the show and we can’t refund everyone who can’t make the event at the last minute.

We are also beginning to sign up vendors for the June 19th event, we have had a lot of people showing interest in the summer months.  PLEASE SPECIFY WHAT MONTH YOU WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR WHEN YOU EMAIL US!!!!!

If you have any questions check out our website www.afairtoremembersf.com or send us an email!  Thanks so much and hope to hear from you soon!

37th Annual Solano Stroll – Sunday – September 11 2011, 10am – 6pm

April 16th, 2011

Since 1974, The merchants, restaurants, and professionals, as well as the twin cities of Albany and Berkeley CA, have hosted the Solano Avenue Stroll, the east bay’s largest street festival! The Solano Avenue Merchants Association invites you to come and see what makes Solano Avenue such a wonderful place.

Over five hundred vendors, non-profit organizations, food booths and entertainers!

The fun begins at 10 am with the opening of Solano Avenue businesses and Stroll booths and the kick-off is the theme parade with about 100 groups.

After the parade, you can visit one of 75 entertainers, 50 food booths, 150 juried arts and crafters, games, wacky art cars, and almost 200 community non-profit and government organizations, not to mention the unique and popular professional services, restaurants, and shops already here on Solano Avenue.

You will hear the best in local music, dance and other performances and absolutely stunning costumes from all over the globe!

This is a family event! We feature a special area set aside just for kids that offer giant slides, carnival games, clowns, jugglers, stilt walkers, face painters, magicians, and maybe even wizards and elves — come and see for yourselves…

Stop by the “Green Zone” on the east end of Solano Avenue where you can find tips about simple changes you can make at your home or business to reduce global warming, displays of green technology — such as solar panels, tank-less water heaters and current composting techniques, and environmental experts ready to answer your questions about what you can do to check climate change.

Booking designers for Chillin Productions 13th anniversary show May 28 at Mezzanine‏

April 16th, 2011

This is Irene from Chillin’ Productions and Wonderland SF. The reason I am writing is because I am booking designers for our Chillin’ 13th Anniversary show at Mezzanine Saturday May 28, 2010 (which is memorial day weekend). This show will feature: 80 fashion designers, 200 painters and photographers, 2 live painters, video installations and a bunch of great DJ’s.Show is from 8:00pm-2:00am

This is a very special show to me because is our 13th anniversary and the fact that we have been able to support artists and designers for so long

This shows we only do twice per year (anniversary & December Holidays show) . We normally have an attendance of at least 2000 people. Our shows have been free for designers to vend for 13 years and my goal is not only for designers to make money but also get exposure in the press and make connections with boutiques and buyers in the Bay Area. My goal is to support the local art and fashion community here and keep SF a unique place.

I do not charge designers to vend but I do have some expectations and if those do not work for you we are not the show for you. I work really hard for the designers and I do the best I can but your help make a huge difference!
