Polk Street Blues Festival – Sat & Sun, Sept 29 & 30, 2012

July 27th, 2012

For many years, San Francisco has been known for its love of the blues. Since our company already produces one of the nation’s largest free Jazz Festivals on Fillmore Street, it made complete sense to us and our client, the Polk District Merchants Association, to create a free Blues Festival on upper Polk Street.

If people are looking to escape the crowded downtown San Francisco chain stores and want to enjoy a warm, friendly neighborhood atmosphere, Polk Street is the place. Polk Street runs from Ghirardelli Square at Beach Street at the northern end, south to Market Street near City Hall and the Civic Center. Located on the west side of upscale Nob and Russian Hills, the neighborhood is in a San Francisco micro climate relatively immune to foul weather, especially during late September.

The Festival will feature two main stages, a merchant marketplace, arts and crafts, gourmet food booths, a large family area, cafe seating areas, and much more. We expect the event will receive a huge amount of press since it is now the only free blues event in San Francisco.

July 27th, 2012
Purpose: This event is an opportunity to feature works of artists affiliated with the Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont and Alameda congregations, to provide shoppers an opportunity to see and buy high quality works of art, and to establish an ongoing collaborative event between the synagogues.

Who is invited to sell:  Artists must be adults (21) and members, or adult relatives of members, in good standing of participating synagogues. We also welcome unaffiliated artists. If space becomes an issue, affiliated artists have first priority.

Who is invited to attend: The interested public, Temple members, and members of other East Bay congregations. We will advertise in local newspapers and with flyers throughout the East Bay.  Posters, handouts, and publicity PDF will be available to artists, and we welcome your marketing suggestions.

Forbidden Merchandise:   Any merchandise containing fragrance or scent of any kind is not permitted.  Merchandise of a distasteful, hateful, or “anti” nature is not permitted.  The SHUK committee reserves the right to request that particular merchandise be removed from sale if deemed inappropriate.

Event elements: Sales, Sales, Sales!  Vendors will have a table for their display.  Bottled water will be provided. Artists are also invited to bring their own water bottles to help make this a “green” event.  Kosher food will be for sale to fair goers and to vendors.

To participate: Please complete the enclosed application. By signing the application, you agree to donate 15% of your gross sales at the fair to your congregation. Non-affiliated artist will donate 15% of your gross sales to the Shuk Committee.  Submit the attached application and a fee of $54.00 per table by July 18th. Adult children of members who are not paying dues in their own right and non-affiliated artists:  $72.00 per table

More information: The fair will take place at Temple Sinai, 28th and Webster Streets,Oakland. The

Social Hall and Chapel will open at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 3rd for set up. You may park in the parking lot for setup.  November 4th please park on the street.

Each vendor’s space will be the size of one 8-foot table and a few feet behind it. Two chairs will be provided. You may bring your own display apparatus as long as it fits into the space. Displays placed on top of the tables may not be more than 24” tall so as not to block visual access to other merchants. There will be WI FI on the fair floor to run credit cards.  Each table will have a neutral-color tablecloth, but you may add your own decorative cloths. The lighting of the hall is not especially bright, and so you may want to bring lighting and heavy-duty grounded extension cords for your display. All cords must be taped down. If you have any questions about the fair please call Susan Levy.

We hope you will share your talents and we appreciate your involvement. We will do our best to make this a successful day for you.

Sincerely,
Susan Levy, TempleSinai

July 27th, 2012

Announcing the return of the Rock Make Street Festival, returning to Treat Avenue and 18th Street on Saturday, September 15th from 12pm to 7pm. Now in its fifth year, Rock Make remains the Mission’s only all ages, all day celebration of local independent music, arts, crafts, and food.

Produced by The Bay BridgedTartufi, and new partner The Bold Italic, Rock Make 2012 will feature two stages of local indie bands, 70 arts and crafts vendors, and local food and beer for your all day enjoyment.

Vendor applications are now being accepted at the newly-relaunched RockMake.com. Only a limited number of spaces are available, so reserve yours today!
Last year’s Rock Make was the best installment yet, and we’re bringing back several of last year’s key vendor benefits, including the revamped festival layout maximizing foot traffic between our two stages of music, the opportunity to pick your preferred booth location in the application process, and the ability to reserve a corner space giving you double the vending area on-site.
This year, we’re also:
  • Reducing vendor prices: 10′x10′ spaces are now just $125!
  • Pairing like-minded vendors into microhoods located around the festival grounds for increased shopping convenience!
  • Increasing our marketing and promotional profile thanks to our partnership with The Bold Italic!
Find out more about being a vendor at the Rock Make Street Festival at RockMake.com, where you can also see photos and other media from previous festivals.
Don’t miss your chance to showcase your arts, crafts, goods or services to Rock Make’s thousands of attendees! Reserve a space today!

Rental Box for YOUR ART at Utsuwa Floral Design

July 22nd, 2012

Starting Now!
at Utsuwa Floral Design: NEW PEOPLE 2F

UTSUWA FLORAL DESIGN (NEW PEOPLE 2F) will be starting a “Rental Box”

WHAT IS A RENTAL BOX?
It is a system in which we will rent out shelf space, etc at UTSUWA for a monthly rental fee to showcase/sell your handmade items. UTSUWA is usually a plant store, but we are consistently searching for new, refreshing, and interesting items daily! Plus, our desire to “meet various artists & their creations” has lead us to starting a “Rental Box,” an already common concept in Japan.

For those of you who strongly desire…

  • A chance for others to be able to pick up your handcrafts and see it in person
  • A chance to find a place to showcase your items
  • Got handcrafts laying around the house with no place to go
  • Want to earn a bit of pocket money

What kind of things can I have showcased?
We would like to say “As long as it is handmade, anything goes!” However, we would like things befitting a plant store that have a “natural, cute, or exquisite feel.” We will accept a wide range of things, so don’t hesitate to consult with us.

What kind of areas will my items be displayed at? Rental fees?
Please refer to the following store map. Entering through the entrance at the right, it opens up to the rest of the store. The window area on the left-hand side of the map is entirely made of glass, giving a sense of freedom. It is perfect for plants to grow and gives us a feeling like that of walking through a park. The areas labeled with alphabetical letters on the map are areas we will be leasing out.

Break-down of the rental shelves and rental areas

*G-2 to G-4, Z-1 Is on a vertical glass case at the center left-hand side after entering; next to the register. Recommended space for high-priced accessories, etc. Z-1 is the rental of the whole display case. G-2 to G-4 ($30 each), Z-1 ($50), G-1 ($50) *G-1 is on a horizontal glass display located in the same left-hand side as above.

X-1 ($30 for 2 weeks)
